Miljatović Sentenced to 34 Years, Railić to 29 Years for Murder of Inspector Radenko Bašić

(Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced Aleksandar Miljatović to 34 years in prison for the murder of the Head of the Criminal Police Sector of the Prijedor Police Administration, Radenko Bašić.

Dalibor Railić was also convicted as the mastermind of the murder and sentenced to 29 years.

Just before the verdict, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska took to the streets in numerous cities. Police officers stopped vehicles and turned on their rotating lights in memory of the Prijedor police chief.

Radenko Bašić, Head of the Criminal Police Sector of the Prijedor Police Administration, was murdered in 2022 by a firearm in the Pećani settlement of Prijedor. The killer shot him in the back of the head at close range, which was later confirmed by the autopsy.

The killer used a silencer, which is why the locals did not hear the shot. Bašić was killed at 6:50 AM as he was heading to work at the Prijedor Police Administration. After the murder, the police blocked the entire city of Prijedor and several individuals were detained.
