One Million KM Spent, but Remains of General Šantić Not Found

In January this year, skeletal remains were found in a barrel at the landfill on Grabež hill above Bihać, which many then claimed were the remains of HVO General Vlado Šantić, last seen alive on the night of March 8-9, 1995, at the Hotel Sedra near Bihać during a Women's Day celebration, reports the Patria news agency.

More than one million KM has been spent on the investigation, which was reopened in early 2013, the fourth such investigation, by the Federal Police Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton!?  

Unofficially, Patria learns that there has been silence on this case for 11 months because the bones found at the landfill are actually of animal origin. The investigation, which FUP Director Dragan Lukač „pumped up“ in the media and prematurely declared historic, yielded no concrete results in the end.

Just seven days before this „discovery“, about which everyone now wisely remains silent, on January 21, 2014, the FUP submitted a report to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton on a criminal offense committed against seven individuals suspected of killing General Šantić.

The prime suspect is Hamdija Abdić, alias Tigar, wartime commander of the 502nd Brigade of the 5th Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and among the suspects were also Jasmir Topal, Ramiz Bajramović, and Ramiz Ružnić, all members of the Military Police of the Fifth Corps. After this information, everything came to a halt.

The investigation is no longer discussed, there are no elements to indict those declared suspects, it is not known what more than one million KM was spent on over the year, and there is no trace of the remains of General Šantić.

Will anyone be held accountable for this circus of an investigation?

Hamdija Abdić Tigar said when the investigation was launched that he was not afraid.

- I am glad that the truth will come out. However, there is a media witch hunt. High-ranking police officials give statements that cannot be verified as accurate. There is talk of murder. I did not see Vlado Šantić dead and cannot confirm those allegations - Abdić stated on Dnevnik 2 of FTV on March 8 last year.
