(Patria) - Today is Labour Day, and workers' rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina are best illustrated by the data on the number of people who are massively leaving our country to establish employment in developed European countries.
Reasons for celebration today are had by employees in the public sector who, with the support of politicians, managed to fight for the respect of their rights, as well as high salaries.
Vojin Mijatović, Vice President of the Main Board of the SDP, also drew attention to the difficult situation.
„Half of our working-age population is unemployed, 300,000 working-age people have left BiH in the last 5 years, the lowest wages in Europe, workers' rights like in the Middle Ages, union leaders in the service of the regime and themselves, the most developed economic branch is the state administration.
But all aside, let's just not have any shooting, let's turn a lamb or a good barbecue today, and tomorrow everything will be the same as before.
Today the streets should have been full so that the authorities could see the dissatisfaction, so that union leaders today could present demands to the authorities and call on opposition politicians to stand by the workers. But it seems we are fine.
Happy May 1st, Labour Day, if there is anything to celebrate then fine, I probably don't see it well“, said Mijatović.
