Mesud Pezer is the Balkan champion for the fifth time

(Patria) - Bosnian and Herzegovinian Olympian, Mesud Pezer (29) from Zenica, won first place and a gold medal at the Balkan Athletics Championship for seniors outdoors, which is being held today and tomorrow in Kraljevo, Serbia.

Pezer threw 20.11 meters in the first series and took the lead in the fight for gold, and he never lost the leading position.

In the second series, he threw 20.26 meters, and won with a throw in the last, sixth series when, after having fouls in the previous two attempts, he threw the shot put 20.55 meters.

Second was Serbia's Asmir Kolašinac with 20.07 meters, and third was Greece's Odyesseas Mouzendis with 19.54 meters.

Our other representative, Nermin Štitkovac (23) from Sarajevo, won 10th place with a throw of 16.84 meters.

This is Pezer's second time as Balkan champion outdoors, and fifth time overall, as he also won outdoors in Serbia in 2017, in Novi Pazar, with a throw of 20.11 meters.

He won the Balkan indoor championship titles three times in a row, all three times in Istanbul, Turkey - in 2018 with a distance of 20.77 meters, in 2019 with 20.22 meters, and in 2020 with a throw of 20.75 meters.

Pezer has also been the BiH national champion for the last three years, and is the holder of both national records in shot put - outdoors 21.48 meters, from 2019, and indoors 21.15 meters from 2018.

He is also the holder of the BiH national record for the U20 age group - 20.44 meters, with which he became the European U20 champion in 2013 in Rieti, Italy.
