By distributing packages to former camp inmates, returnees to Rogatica and Žepa, the Association of Camp Inmates of Bosnia and Herzegovina wants to ease the lives of more than 40 members of this association, who have returned to their pre-war homes in these municipalities, Jasmin Mešković, president of the Association of Camp Inmates of BiH, told the BiH news agency Patria.
The Association, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, will distribute slightly more than 40 food packages to returnees in Rogatica and Žepa on Tuesday, to ease their lives during the winter days.
- People who survived camps during the last aggression against BiH find it very difficult to return to their hometowns, because the images of events from the 90s still haunt them - said Mešković.
- But, even when these people gather the courage and return to their homes, they can hardly survive there, because they generally have almost no rights, they have difficulty finding jobs, they simply do not have the means to live in their pre-war homes.
The latest assistance to returnees in Rogatica and Žepa by the Association of Camp Inmates of BiH is the beginning of more intensive assistance to this population. The Association hopes that by their example, they will encourage other people to get involved in helping former camp inmates returnees to the RS, writes Patria.
