Mešalić: Konaković's failed attempt is a victory for the idea of a civic BiH

(Patria) - The failed attempt by Konaković and Sevlid Hurtić (Dodik's minister in the BiH Council of Ministers) to gather "Bosniak leaders of the region" is a victory for the idea of a civic Bosnia and Herzegovina, says Mahir Mešalić, DF MP in the FBiH Parliament.

"The perfidious attempt to help legitimize Vulin's so-called "Serbian world" and the concept of Čović's non-governmental organization HNS through this gathering has failed.

The only guarantee of survival are stronger institutions and a state-building consciousness, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. No "all-Bosniak" assemblies or parasystems can and must not replace state institutions. If Bosniaks in the region have problems, they must and should be resolved through the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in dialogue with neighboring countries," says Mešalić.

He adds that he identifies as a Bosniak, and that he is not ashamed of it, on the contrary.

"But I do not need any "Bosniak assembly" but only a state in which I will live equally with all citizens who live in it, respecting all human rights of others and general civilizational values. I don't need Konaković, nor Ramo Isak, nor Sevlid Hurtić to tell me who I am and what I am, through some para-gatherings.

The world, even during the war, recognized the multi-ethnic struggle of BiH citizens, including a huge number of non-Bosniaks, for a sovereign, modern and European BiH, who gave their lives for that idea.

Why do some political unknowns, without any political legitimacy, want to tribalize us today and reduce us to that category. We should not play into the hands of those who wish for the ethnic division of Bosnia and Herzegovina with these and similar ideas. Therefore, as a Bosniak, I strongly oppose any gathering that does not have a multi-ethnic, civic character," added Mešalić.
