(Patria) - No one has the right to discriminate against anyone or any citizen, regardless of their place of residence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Mahir Mešalić, head of the DF club in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.
He stated that Stolac and its citizens will not and must not be abandoned!
"Where citizens of a certain group are in the minority, we should all fight together for them to receive even more rights and for 'positive discrimination' to be applied as a set of legal, political, and social measures. The response of Stjepan Bošković (HDZ), Mayor of the City of Stolac, to my question will be that he cannot grant approval for a Muslim cemetery because it concerns state property, while for solar panels for HDZ companies, there is room for the same approval. Therefore, Stjepan Bošković applies the decision on state property exclusively and selectively only to the matter of the cemetery, while simultaneously allowing projects for the installation of solar panels and other infrastructure activities on the same type of land without any obstacles," Mešalić emphasized.
He added: "Instead of Stjepan Bošković helping all his fellow citizens and finding an alternative and offering it himself to people who have returned to their homes, he is doing everything to continue decades-long discrimination. This is also reflected in other infrastructure projects such as asphalt paving, introduction of lighting, water supply, landfills, all in areas where predominantly Bosniaks live, who have already suffered enough during the UZP policy of persecution."
He appealed to Mayor Bošković to treat all citizens equally and to respect the requests of his fellow citizens!
We remind you that at the end of June, citizens of Stolac took to the streets in a peaceful protest and symbolically blocked traffic due to the ignoring of long-standing problems that largely affect the Bosniak community in this city.
As one of the main problems, they highlighted poorly organized infrastructure works in the Uzinovići neighborhood. They also pointed to the existence of an illegal landfill near the archaeological site of Badanj Cave, illegal waste dumps in the Gorica settlement, the planned construction of a solar power plant in the Komanja brdo area, as well as the unresolved physical attack on four young men from the Masline settlement on April 7, 2024.
