Merhamet and the Islamic Community Prepared 8,200 Meals for Migrants

(Patria) - A donation of 30,000 KM from the Islamic Community enabled „Merhamet“ to prepare and distribute 8,200 meals for migrants in the Una-Sana Canton (USK), primarily for those housed at Vučijak, as well as for migrants encountered during transit through Tuzla.

Due to the large migrant wave in USK, the Regional Committee of „Merhamet“ Bihać received 25,000 KM from the total donation of the Islamic Community in BiH, from which it prepared 6,500 meals that were distributed daily to migrants. At the same time, the Regional Committee of „Merhamet“ Tuzla was allocated 5,000 KM, which enabled the preparation and distribution of about 1,700 meals. 

"We are honored that the Islamic Community once again entrusted „Merhamet“ and that we again together helped migrants who found temporary shelter in our country. The significant assistance of the Islamic Community of 30,000 KM enabled „Merhamet“ to provide food for Syrian refugees and migrants. In this way, the Islamic Community in BiH and „Merhamet“ together sought to make life somewhat easier for migrants and refugees. I thank the Islamic Community for their trust, and we are pleased that our cooperation is becoming closer and stronger every day," stated Vrbanjac. 

Let us recall, at the end of May in Sarajevo, a contract was signed for a donation of financial assistance in the amount of 30,000 KM, which the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented to the Humanitarian Organization „Merhamet“ MDD for the feeding of refugees and migrants located in our country. The contract was signed by Zejnil Rebihić, Director of the Administration for Economic and Financial Affairs of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community in BiH, and Kenan Vrbanjac, President of the Humanitarian Organization Merhamet MMD.

Rebihić then told the media that the Islamic Community in BiH, from the first days of the escalation of the migrant crisis in our country, has been helping organizations that provide assistance to refugees and migrants.
