Deputy Ambassadors from Regional Countries Visit Memorial Center

(Patria) - The Srebrenica Memorial Center hosted Deputy Ambassadors of the United Kingdom (UK) from the Western Balkan countries today, as well as the Deputy Head of the Western Balkans Department at the UK Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This working visit was dedicated to familiarizing guests with the work of the Memorial Center, its mission, and key programs aimed at preserving the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica.



During the meeting with Director Emir Suljagić, guests were presented with the activities and projects that the Srebrenica Memorial Center is implementing with the support of the UK Government, with a special emphasis on education, memorialization, and combating genocide denial programs.

Discussions also covered the role of the Memorial Center in strengthening the culture of remembrance, educating younger generations, and the importance of continuous international support for these processes.

Within the meeting, cooperation on the project "She, Srebrenica - Women’s Voices in Memory" was also mentioned. This project aims to enhance the visibility of the experiences of Srebrenica women through a future memorial exhibition based on personal stories and testimonies, which will be realized with the support of the British Council.

Following the visit, the delegation toured the Memorial Center's museum exhibits and the children's exhibition realized as part of the Srebrenica Outreach project, funded by the UK Government through Srebrenica Kids activities. They also spoke with young people involved in this project about their work and the role of youth in preserving the culture of remembrance and combating genocide denial.



The delegation then visited the Memorial Center's cemetery, where they laid a wreath and paid their respects to the victims of the genocide.

The Srebrenica Memorial Center thanks the United Kingdom for its continuous support and remains committed to cooperation with international partners who share the values of truth, responsible remembrance, and respect for the dignity of victims.
