SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić held a press conference today, where he commented on the results of yesterday's meeting on the migrant situation in BiH, but also referred to the media reports in the RS about that meeting.
At the meeting, as he says, he informed representatives of the European Union about the state of migration in BiH.
"I said that we do not want to be a hotspot state at any cost, while solid ramparts are being erected next to us so that migrants who have entered BiH cannot leave BiH", Mektić said.
He added that he saw that the EU has no solution for the migrant situation and that, when he realized that, he told them that BiH is ready to deal with migration as a humanitarian problem.
According to Mektić, he was asked not to speak at the meeting about the routes by which migrants come to our country.
"They want us to have a coordination body on these issues, which is actually the Operational Staff, and they want its work to be specified. I will open the process of reforming the Operational Staff within the staff itself, which includes representatives from all levels, so that the staff can act more efficiently", Mektić stated.
The Minister of Security, before the information about the meeting, referred to the reporting of RTRS and Banja Luka's ATV.
"They lied about the content of the meeting and published that Mektić himself offered a location for accommodating migrants in the RS. There was talk about centers, but apart from Vučijak, which is unacceptable for the EU, no location was mentioned. I enjoy debating with RTRS, but I am sorry that they lie to the people, both in the RS and in BiH", Mektić said.
