Mektić with security agency heads: BiH preparing for refugee crisis

Security agencies are conducting intensive preparations for the reception and registration of refugees in case the current migration route shifts towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This was the main topic of today's meeting between the Minister of Security Dragan Mektić and the directors and representatives of agencies within the Ministry of Security - the Border Police of BiH, the State Investigation and Protection Agency, the Service for Foreigners' Affairs of BiH, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, the Agency for Police Support, the Agency for Education and Professional Training of Personnel, and the Forensic Investigation and Expertise Agency, reports the Patria News Agency.

It was emphasized that the role of these agencies is extremely important so that all refugees arriving at the BiH border can be registered.

It was stressed that close cooperation with other security agencies and police forces, as well as ministries, humanitarian organizations, and local communities responsible for the humanitarian aspect of resolving a potential refugee crisis, i.e., transportation and accommodation of refugees, is necessary.     

The meeting also discussed the current activities carried out by the Ministry and agencies. Minister Mektić emphasized the need to strengthen the fight against organized crime, especially in the areas of combating corruption and drug trafficking, and stated that he will continue to insist on results in this area, primarily through resolving major corruption scandals and dismantling organized criminal groups, it was announced from the Ministry of Security of BiH.
