Mektić asks OSCE why media reports' veracity wasn't proven in the Štrahe case

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić commented on yesterday's article by Žurnal about the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (VSTV) Milan Tegeltija and alleged case trading through a series of Twitter posts.

According to the magazine Žurnal, the first man of Bosnia's judiciary was supposed to "expedite" an investigation in a case where the injured party, a businessman from Velika Kladuša, handed over 2,000 KM to Tegeltija's intermediary Marko Pandža, a police officer, so that the Prosecutor's Office would take up the case in which businessman Nermin Alešević is the injured party.

After the head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Bruce Berton, stated that it is very important for the allegations about Tegeltija to be verified, Mektić asked why Berton "didn't say the same to the Austrians in the 'Štrahe' case, so that their government wouldn't fall for nothing."

The Minister of Security of BiH then wrote that money was taken in this case.

"You will see that it will be proven, and even if it is, if you are moral, resign and thus enable the prosecutor's office to conduct an independent investigation," Mektić said to Tegeltija.

Mektić then commented on his own experiences.

"In my case, you opened about ten investigations based on malicious media reports, and you proved nothing. So, in what way are you protected?" Mektić concluded, Patria reports.
