Mektić: I am flattered by comments about my political power

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - I am flattered by the comment that I am so powerful that I prevented the formation of a new Council of Ministers.

This was stated today in Sarajevo by Dragan Mektić, Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, responding to journalists' questions after the session of the Council of Ministers.

"I am flattered by such power. Having such capacity is something to welcome. The new Council of Ministers is a matter of political capacity in the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Whoever has the majority elects the Council of Ministers. I don't know how we could behave differently," Mektić said.

Asked whether he is working on a new majority in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mektić said: "Everyone is working, and every political party is fighting."

"Why would we as SDS exist if we didn't have our own program and didn't fight to implement it? That is normal political life," Mektić said.

Mektić welcomed the adoption of the Decision on Temporary Financing.

Commenting on Croatia's decision to store nuclear waste at Trgovska Gora, Mektić said that "SNSD is trying to manipulate the people."

"It is not true that this Council of Ministers and Mirko Šarović have done nothing. Immediately upon learning, we undertook activities, formed a working body within the Council of Ministers and Bosnia and Herzegovina to deal with this issue. In that working body, due to the sensitivity that this is a problem that will be most felt by the Republika Srpska, we appointed Srebrenka Golić. It is a frightening fact that Milorad Dodik, as a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, declared a Croatian national interest as a Serbian interest, and never put Trgovska Gora on the agenda," Mektić said.
