Meho Kodro is no longer the coach of the BiH national football team

(Patria) - Meho Kodro is no longer the coach of the BiH national football team, and he leaves the Dragons' helm after only two matches, it has been confirmed for Klix.ba.

Kodro came to the position of coach after Faruk Hadžibegić, and although he seemed like a long-term solution, he led the Dragons in only two matches, and after the defeat against Iceland, it was decided that he will no longer lead our national team from the bench.

In the first match, our team narrowly defeated Liechtenstein in Zenica with a score of 2:1, and then in Iceland, despite significantly better play, we suffered a defeat with a goal in the very end, and thus we definitively lost our chances to qualify directly for the European Championship through qualifications.

Interestingly, Kodro led the Dragons in only two matches in his second term as well, just as was the case in his first.

After the end of his rich playing career, during which he also played for Barcelona, Kodro had his first coaching engagement in 2006 at Real Sociedad as an assistant.

In January 2008, he became the coach of BiH, but he led our team in only two friendly matches, in which he recorded a draw against North Macedonia (2:2) and a loss against Japan (3:0). He was sacked in May when he protested that the Football Association of BiH had arranged a friendly match with Iran without his consent.

Shortly after being sacked, he returned to Sociedad, where he worked with youth categories, and in 2010, he took over the B team of the team from San Sebastian and led them for three seasons.

He became the coach of Sarajevo in the 2014/2015 season and stayed there for 17 matches.

He led Swiss Servette from December 2016 to March 2018, and his last engagement, and also the longest senior one, was leading Lausanne for two seasons, and he has been without a club since the summer of last year.
