(Patria) - We are witnessing coordinated political and quasi-analytical gatherings in the region, from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, where, under the guise of "reform" and "restructuring", well-oiled by lobbying activities, attempts are being made to reaffirm the narrative of the division of the Federation, and even of Bosnia and Herzegovina itself, according to a statement from the president of the Naprijed party and a representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
"Such narratives do not come from a vacuum. They are reminiscent of the continuity of policies from the 90s, embodied in the criminal projects symbolized by Franjo Tuđman and Slobodan Milošević, policies that had deep and tragic consequences for the region," adds Mehmedović.
He states: "It is particularly concerning when religious authorities such as Cardinal Vinko Puljić appear in these discussions, whose public positions, unlike his long-standing stance, further legitimize ideas that lead to ethnic divisions, rather than strengthening common institutions and trust".
"After 'Serbian World' and attempts at destabilization through the narrative of the RS secession did not yield the expected results, the concept of the so-called 'third entity' is increasingly being imposed as a new form of the old project of territorial fragmentation.
In the meantime, blockades of institutions, especially the House of Peoples of BiH, and internal political crises create space for these agendas. While pro-Bosnian political actors are exhausting themselves in mutual disputes, quarrels over positions and cantonal budgets, public enterprises, dangerous initiatives that encroach on the very structure of the state are now being conducted before the eyes of the public, and the international community is slowly being prepared to get used to Čović's narrative and eventually adopt it as its own," emphasizes the president of Naprijed.
He believes: "The role of parties like HDZ BiH in this context requires serious analysis, especially when discussing the position of non-Bosniak and non-Croat populations in areas where they have political dominance. What it would be like for Bosniaks who remain in such phantom projects is best illustrated by the Hague verdicts on the Joint Criminal Enterprise".
"Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a sum of territories, but a historical, political, and social space that cannot survive on the logic of division. Any attempt at its 'restructuring' on ethnic grounds leads to further instability in the Balkans and Europe.
Therefore, it is important to state clearly: we still exist, Bosnians and Herzegovinians, people and institutions who, as always, will defend the constitutional order, sovereignty, and integrity of the state, politically, legally, and democratically. And however circumstances demand it"; concludes Mehmedović.
