The great battle between old acquaintances Medvedev and Zverev, who have met as many as 20 times in ATP tournaments so far (13-7 for Medvedev), lasted four hours and 22 minutes.
In the final, Medvedev will face Italy's Jannik Sinner, who caused a sensation in the other semi-final by eliminating the tournament's top favorite, Serbia's Novak Djokovic, with a 3-1 score.
This is Sinner's first Australian Open final, and for the Russian representative, it is his third - he was defeated by Djokovic in the previous two.
The men's final is scheduled for Sunday morning our time.
