Among 17 newly infected is a doctor from UKC RS who was previously negative

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) – Minister of Health of RS Alen Šeranić said this morning that 416 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, of which 17 were positive. A total of 365 people are infected with the coronavirus.

“We have 81 recovered from the coronavirus. A total of 3,734 tests have been performed in RS,” Šeranić said.

He said that nine people have been hospitalized. One of the 17 positive cases is a doctor from UKC RS who was previously negative.

“We are conducting tests for preventive reasons. Regarding the infected, these are family or direct contacts of the infected. There are also several individuals who could not state their contact, and that is the reason why we cannot ease public health measures. Therefore, it is important to stay at home,” Šeranić said. 

Four patients at UKC RS are on ventilators. 

6,638 people are under health supervision.

When asked by journalists whether autopsies are performed on deceased persons who are positive for coronavirus, Šeranić confirmed that autopsies are performed. 

“The virus is not active when a person dies, but protective measures are needed that the pathologist takes,” Šeranić said.
