French media write about the collapse of the national team, but the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be insignificant

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The French handball team sensationally exited the European Championship yesterday! Six-time world champions and three-time European champions lost to Norway 26:28 in Trondheim and, with two defeats, said goodbye to the Euro a round before the end.

This is the worst result for Les Tricolores at major competitions in the last 30 years. French media reacted to this elimination as if marking the end of a generation.

“Les Bleus, this is the end,” suggests one of the world's most famous sports dailies, L’Equipe, in its headline, adding:

“The French team, beaten by Norway, is already eliminated. The catastrophic scenario was not avoided: Norway beat them 28-26, something that happened for the first time in its history.”

The French were costly punished for their opening loss to Portugal (25:28), and now in the last round on January 14, they have to fight against Bosnia and Herzegovina (18:15 CET) for third place in the group, which secures a spot in the playoffs for the World Championship.

“France is left without glory! With a loss to Norway in a breathtaking match, Nikola Karabatić's teammates are already eliminated from the Euro. They failed to solve the problems from the first match against Portugal. The end of an era,” writes Le Parisien.

“Broken and eliminated, Les Bleus received a monumental slap. Without a title for the third year, the French suffered a nightmare at the Euro and were eliminated after just two matches,” writes Le Figaro.
