SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Dr. Hasan Tanović, orthopedic specialist at the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš", and Adis Kukuljac, orthopedic specialist, Čedomir Orašanin, anesthesiologist, and Enes Gorčević, instrument technician, performed surgery – osteosynthesis of small hand bones (scaphoid bone) on a seventeen-year-old patient Nihad Hasić, who injured his hand ten months ago in a fall from a bicycle.
The surgery lasted about twenty minutes and was performed using a minimally invasive method with an incision of 3-5 millimeters, through which a small screw was implanted under C-arm control, the General Hospital announced.
The advantage of this method is the reduced possibility of infection and shorter hospital stay, as the patient can go home the same day. This is advanced technology that offers great possibilities in the use of implant placement.
The patient, who is otherwise involved in mountain biking, reported to the General Hospital where additional diagnostics revealed a non-union fracture of the scaphoid bone. The expert team of this healthcare institution resolved this health problem with a quick and efficient intervention, and the patient is feeling excellent.
