(Patria) - For the third year in a row, the Srebrenica Memorial Center has published the research document "Report on the Denial of Genocide in Srebrenica 2023" which recorded 90 cases of genocide denial in Srebrenica in the period from May 2022 to May 2023. The report covers online media publications and statements by public figures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro that deny, minimize, relativize, or otherwise distort the facts about the genocide in Srebrenica.
In the reporting period, using quantitative analysis, 90 cases of denial were identified in the public and media space of Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighboring countries. Compared to last year's report, which recorded 693 cases of genocide denial, a decrease in the number of cases is observed. It is important to note that the quantity of recorded publications is not the only key indicator of societal awareness of the genocide in Srebrenica, N1 reports.
Genocide denial was most frequently recorded through active denial in 53 cases, relativization in 26 cases, support for perpetrators in 9 cases, and acknowledgment of crimes but not genocide in 2 cases. During the monitoring, it is evident that the largest number of genocide denial cases occur in July, when the anniversary and commemoration of the genocide victims are observed.

Research conducted for 2023 indicates that Milorad Dodik, president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Branimir Kojić, president of the Organization of Families of Captured and Missing Soldiers and Victims of Civilian Crimes from Srebrenica, and Miodrag Linta, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, continue to be the main deniers of the genocide.
In addition to Dodik, Kojić, and Linta, among the deniers were Serbian tabloids "Informer" and "Alo", Zoran Milanović, president of the Republic of Croatia, Radovan Kovačević, delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and spokesperson for SNSD, and Nenad Kecmanović, a retired professor and former advisor to Milorad Dodik.
Genocide denial was most frequently recorded through active denial in 53 cases, relativization in 26 cases, support for perpetrators in 9 cases, and acknowledgment of crimes but not genocide in 2 cases, the Srebrenica Memorial Center announced.
