Mass bomb threats in schools across Tuzla Canton, classes suspended for security checks

(Patria) - Following received reports of explosive devices placed in several primary and secondary schools in the Tuzla Canton area, the Government of Tuzla Canton and the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton inform the public that police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, immediately upon receiving the reports, went to the field and are taking all measures and actions within their jurisdiction to verify the claims and secure school facilities. All activities are being carried out in accordance with applicable legal and security procedures.

School administrations and teaching staff are acting responsibly and in accordance with prescribed security protocols, and the safety of students, teachers, and other employees is not currently threatened and is an absolute priority. Students, in coordination with the competent services, have been timely and safely removed from school facilities and sent to their homes.

"We inform parents and guardians that, for security reasons, classes in the first shift have been suspended. After the completion of police checks, and in accordance with assessments by the competent services, the teaching process will continue in the second shift," they stated.

They clarified that parents will be promptly informed of all relevant and verified information, if necessary, through school administrations.

"We note that, according to available information, numerous schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina are facing similar reports, and that competent institutions at all levels of government are cooperating with each other to determine the circumstances and preserve safety," they emphasized.

The Government of Tuzla Canton and the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton call on the public to remain calm and behave responsibly, and appeal that information be followed exclusively through official and verified sources.

From the Police Administration of the MUP of Tuzla Canton, they stated that they received reports that bombs were reported in several primary and secondary schools via email.

"Police officers of the competent police administrations/stations, as well as police officers of the Criminal Police Sector of the Police Administration of the MUP of Tuzla Canton, are acting on the reports, and intensive measures are being taken to investigate and identify the sender of the emails in question, in cooperation with other police agencies. All facilities to which the reports referred have been evacuated," stated the MUP of Tuzla Canton.

The public will be promptly informed of all further information.
