Maglaj residents demand a 24-hour pharmacy, mayor promises to resolve the issue

The Patria News Agency received a request from a group of citizens to help them resolve one of the burning issues in Maglaj, which is having at least one pharmacy open 24 hours a day.

Namely, a letter from a mother who was visiting relatives in Maglaj appeared on social media. Her 19-month-old baby fell ill, and she received help at the Health Center, but she couldn't buy the syrup she urgently needed because no pharmacy was open at midnight. The only option was to go to Žepče, but no one could guarantee her that a pharmacy was open there either.

We contacted the Mayor of Maglaj Municipality, Mehmed Mustabašić, who said that he would call the director of the Public Institution National Pharmacy on Friday and see what she proposes. Besides this pharmacy, there are also two private ones, but their working hours are until 8 PM.

- If the director cannot resolve this issue, then we will look for a private pharmacy. I think it can be resolved, and there is a branch of the National Pharmacy at the Health Center, so if there is an on-call doctor, there should also be an on-call pharmacist – Mustabašić told Patria.

More than 6,500 residents live in the municipality of Maglaj, and they need this type of service.
