Magazinović: Procurement of weapons and equipment for state police agencies obstructed by complaints for seven months

(Patria) - State representative Saša Magazinović announced that the procurement of weapons and police equipment for state security agencies has been obstructed for seven months.

"How? Through complaints, and with the obvious intention of stopping the process. Why is it claimed that this is the intention? Because the companies filing the complaints do not pay the fee, which is a reason for the complaint to be rejected, but each of them consumes significant time.

According to information from the Police Support Agency, in this case, complaints are filed by different companies owned by the same person. I, as a deputy dealing with the issue of 'professional complainants' in the public procurement process, was informed about all this by Director Enver Hadžiahmetović and his associates," states Magazinović.

The weapons and equipment subject to procurement are intended for SIPA, the Border Police, and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies.

"Since the Police Support Agency states that in this case there are indications of a possible threat to the security interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they are taking appropriate steps towards BiH institutions. This is just one example of how, in the public procurement process, the abuse of the right to complaint stops procurements. The good news is that a serious team of people from various institutions is working on a solution to this pervasive problem, as well as on documenting cases of abuse.

If one company files 365 complaints in a year, one complaint every day, then that is a sufficient alarm for the state to react. Enough of blackmail, racketeering, and stopping procurements for various motives," states Magazinović.
