Magazinović calls on the House of Peoples of the BiH PA to include and adopt amendments to the Excise Law at tomorrow's session

(Patria) - On the occasion of tomorrow's session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, for which delegates announce that due to the importance and urgency, they will seek to include amendments to the Law on Excise Duties on the agenda,
Saša Magazinović, a Member of the House of Representatives, called on the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to include the amendments to the Law on Excise Duties on the agenda at tomorrow's session and to adopt them without delay.

"The House of Representatives has already adopted with a large majority of votes a solution that allows the Council of Ministers of BiH to temporarily reduce or abolish excise duties on petroleum products in conditions of market disruption. This is a concrete missing mechanism for a quick reaction to stop the sharp rise in fuel prices we are witnessing, but also to protect the standard of living of citizens and preserve the economy.

We all know what happens when fuel prices rise – a chain of price increases follows, some justified, but many unjustified. When fuel prices return to their previous level, the prices of goods and services never follow that drop. The burden remains on the shoulders of citizens and the economy. This law is important to prevent such phenomena.

This topic is very important for everyone in the country and should not be viewed as a matter of politics,
but exclusively of economics, responsibility, and care for people. It is important to clearly state that the issue of excise duties is the exclusive competence of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Everything is clear here, and there are no excuses or shifting of responsibility. Numerous EU countries, as well as all our neighbors, have already resorted to these measures to protect their citizens and economies. If they can react in the interest of their people, Bosnia and Herzegovina can and must," Magazinović stated.

He called on the delegates to justify the word "Peoples" in the name of the House of Peoples.

"People across Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of their entity, ethnic, or political affiliation, expect and support the existence of a mechanism that will stop price increases and allow for cheaper fuel, and thus more affordable basic living costs. The attitude of the delegates of the House of Peoples towards the amendments to the Law on Excise Duties is a test, above all, of humanity and responsibility. My wish is for everyone to pass it. I call on the public to follow this process,” Magazinović stated.
