From 7 AM this morning, 27,000 voters in 94 organizations have the right to vote for one of the five candidates for the SDP BiH president, and by noon, 8,000 voters had cast their ballots, it was confirmed for the Patria agency.
As stated by the president of the SDP BiH Central Election Commission, Saša Magazinović, for Patria, the turnout by noon is around 30%, and the voting is proceeding without any problems.
"The turnout is good considering the weather conditions, but we expect a growing trend of voters. Not a single complaint has reached the CEC," said Magazinović.
Voters can cast their ballots today for the current SDP president Nermin Nikšić, Miro Lazović, Svetozar Pudarić, Jasmin Imamović, and Emir Đikić. The candidates have also voted, three in Sarajevo, while Nikšić and Imamović voted in Konjic and Tuzla, respectively.
Nikšić said that this is a big day for the SDP.
"Today we will show how the decision to introduce the principle of One member-one vote was historic. Today is a victory for the SDP."
The first preliminary results are expected around 9 PM. If no candidate has 50 percent of the votes, the two candidates with the most votes will go to a second round, which will be held in seven days. The one who has 50 percent of the votes will be the president of the SDP.
