Lulić: It's time to say goodbye to the national team

Lazio player Senad Lulić has decided to say goodbye to the "A" national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Lulić had hinted at his decision to withdraw from the national scene earlier, and confirmed it via an email sent to the Football Association's office.

- Life decisions are never made overnight, especially when it comes to love, like my love for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the jersey of the country I love. However, it is time to say goodbye.

After days and days of thinking and talking with my family and those closest to me, I have decided that my national team career is over. I say this with a heavy heart, because I have invested my time, health, and a huge amount of love fighting for the crest of my country.

Sometimes it went badly, sometimes well, and the crown of my career, like all of ours, was going to the World Cup in Brazil. It remains a regret that we did not repeat that success, but we got lost somewhere along the way, and now it is time for the young forces that are coming and who should learn from our mistakes.

Some things could have been better, some were done perfectly, and the only thing I never regret is that I always gave my best on the field. Sometimes it might have seemed too little to someone, but we all know how much stress we went through, along with our families.

Thank you to all the coaches, the Association, the fans, who followed us all over the world and who I will miss the most, the media, my teammates, the ball boys, everyone, who in some way were part of my life, but it is time to part with the national team jersey, with the fact that I will be the most loyal fan of BiH in the future.

Since some sentences and things are sometimes misinterpreted, I would ask the media to accept my decision, which was made after long consideration and which was never influenced by things that happened or did not happen.

I have always had a good relationship with everyone, both in the Association and in the locker room, as well as outside of it, and this decision of mine was made solely because I felt it was time for new forces and new blood.

Senad Lulić played 57 games for the BiH national team and scored 4 goals.
