Luka Modrić elected best footballer in the world

LONDON, (Patria) - A ceremony was held in London tonight where awards were presented to the best footballers and coaches of the past season.

The most interesting part was certainly seeing who would receive the award for the best player in the world for the past season, and in FIFA's selection, it was Croatian national team player Luka Modrić.

The Real Madrid midfielder thus broke the dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who had won this FIFA award 5 times each in the last 10 years.

Modrić had a fantastic season. He became European champion with Real Madrid, and this summer, with his Croatia, he reached the final of the World Cup in Russia, where France proved better than the Vatreni.

Earlier, Mohamed Salah received the Ferenc Puskás award for the most beautiful goal of the season, Didier Deschamps was the best coach, and Thibaut Courtois was the best goalkeeper.

Lennart Thy received the fair-play award of the year.
