A traffic police officer in Novi Sad was wounded while chasing a car thief, "Blic" has learned, reports the Patria News Agency.
A traffic patrol was pursuing a "Citroen Xsara" car in which the thief was located. The police caught up with the thief near Feketić, when he skidded off the overpass due to high speed.
The thief then got out of the car and shot at the police, wounding one of the traffic officers. He is not in life-threatening condition and has been transported to the Novi Sad hospital.
However, the thief escaped after the crime, which is why there is a state of siege in this part of Serbia. Tracking dogs and the Intervention Unit are involved in the search.
