Summer in a Traffic Jam: Traffic Light Horror on the Jablanica-Konjic Highway

Summer is drawing to a close, and residents and travelers on the Konjic – Jablanica highway continue to suffer unprecedented traffic jams!

This was the case all day, and the situation is unbearable again this evening. After citizens patiently waited for months at the traffic light in Nikšić's Konjic (Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of FBiH, op.a.), the same fate awaits them near the Crnaja tunnel. Kilometers-long queues, road rage, and wasted time have become a daily occurrence, while the authorities clearly have no effective solution to the problem that has been ongoing all summer.



The temporary traffic light near the Crnaja tunnel, installed due to construction, slows down traffic to such an extent that citizens are literally stuck in queues, while their patience is tested daily. The question is why the authorities do not plan construction work outside of the season or at night, in order to minimize the damage to drivers and the local community.

Because, unlike the government, citizens are in a hurry! They don't have time to waste, like BiH politicians. Admittedly, they pass through faster with their rotating escorts – and today, the words of a state minister who boasted that he could reach Sarajevo in an instant with his 'nin-nin' are still echoing in my ears!

This practice, which repeats month after month, shows a complete lack of coordination and seriousness in planning infrastructure works. The citizens of Konjic, Jablanica, and the entire highway route deserve transparent, long-term, and functional measures, not temporary 'solutions' that cause more trouble than help.

A traffic light as a means of traffic control must not become a source of frustration and wasted time for thousands of people – and citizens of Sarajevo are increasingly convinced of this, as synchronization no longer exists at all, and the 'green wave' remains a scientific fantasy. The authorities should finally recognize the problem and react before summer becomes a permanent nightmare for travelers.

And this summer, it truly was a nightmare!
