Lisica for NAP: Hamas had to know Israel would have a brutal response, Gaza is effectively a type of camp

(Patria) - The conflict between the Israeli army and Hamas has claimed more than 1,300 lives, while thousands more have been injured. As is often the case in any war, the innocent civilian population will unfortunately suffer the most.

Historian and geopolitical analyst Admir Lisica, in an interview with the Patria News Agency, says that the killing of innocent civilians, whoever they may be, constitutes a grave crime with enormous consequences.

- It is particularly heinous to see innocent children or women killed. Unfortunately, most conflicts like the current one between Hamas and Israel have a similar unfavorable epilogue - says Lisica.

He considers it understandable that there is great dissatisfaction on the Palestinian side due to the continuous oppression by the Israeli regime, which has not been happening since yesterday, but for decades.

- However, I believe that the path chosen by Hamas is not what can solve the accumulated problems of the Palestinians and improve their catastrophic situation. Already in the first days of the conflict, it is evident that the vastly superior Israel, led by the radical Netanyahu, has carried out retaliations in which a large number of civilians in Gaza have been killed.

Hamas had to be aware that Israel would have a brutal response, the consequences of which will be far-reaching for innocent Palestinians in occupied Gaza - emphasizes Lisica.

He reminds that the United States and its Western partners have unequivocally supported Israel, which is not something that would surprise the average observer of the Middle East situation.

On the other hand, Lisica points out that it is clear that the US avoids directly accusing any other country of being responsible for Hamas's activities.

- Regarding Iran, it is clear that the people of Iran have supported the Palestinians and Palestine for years, but officials of this country have clearly stated that they have no connection to the current events.

These events will certainly complicate relations in the Middle East and beyond. Russia may profit, not because they have certain sympathies or alliances with groups in Palestine, but because a new hotspot that would occupy the West is in their interest.

It is evident that we live in a time of great upheavals on the world geopolitical stage, and that there are hotspots around the world that can escalate at any moment - states Lisica.

According to him, it is clear that Israel, as the occupying power, will continue to apply the same methods as before in the case of Gaza, which is effectively a type of camp.

- What the public is not talking about is what will happen on the political scene in Israel in the coming period.

We have witnessed large protests against the Netanyahu regime, not because of their relationship with the Palestinians, but for other issues, but it is clear how the opposition is trying to put pressure on the current radical government.

Intelligence agencies failed in the context of the Hamas attack, they made major oversights, which proved that despite all the modern equipment, Mossad did not react in time.

The current regime will pay the price, and it will certainly have to answer to the citizens of Israel - how this major oversight occurred. Dissatisfaction in Israel will be increasingly expressed in the coming period - concludes Lisica.
