Lisica for NAP: BiH proved it stands with the oppressed, Croatia morally stumbled, and Serbia is not interested in Orthodox Christians in the Middle East

Interview by Delvin Kovač

The UN General Assembly resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza is more of a moral act in a time of complete powerlessness of world leaders to end the Israeli army's attack on civilians in Gaza, assesses historian and geopolitical analyst Admir Lisica in an interview with the Patria News Agency.

Hypocrisy of Western Countries

In itself, Lisica believes, the Resolution brings nothing new, but it is certainly important that at this moment we can see the constellation of relations in the world, and the mood of officials regarding Israel's war crimes and the genocide against Palestinians, which will very likely happen if the total offensive of the superior Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) does not stop.

- Of course, all this points to the hypocrisy of Western countries, which have shown that they have double standards in their foreign policy. Also, the helplessness of Arab rulers is evident, who are unable to stop war crimes through diplomatic means - points out Lisica.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, he adds, was also left to itself until 1995 and the committed genocide against Bosniaks by the so-called Army of Republika Srpska, and other Serbian military and paramilitary formations.

- I wouldn't just mention the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina; there are many examples throughout history when justice was not really present at the moments it was needed. A potential solution lies in the establishment of the state of Palestine, but it is very difficult to implement.

Nevertheless, the international community is aware that the Palestinian issue must finally be resolved, because this situation does not benefit anyone except the Zionist regime - states Lisica.

120 countries voted for the Resolution on Gaza in the UN, 14 were against, and 45 abstained. BiH voted "yes", among those who were against are our western neighbors Croats, while Albanians and Serbs abstained.

Lisica says he is pleased that our foreign policy has a clearly defined stance on Israel's war crimes. It is important, emphasizes our interlocutor, that Bosnia and Herzegovina stands with the oppressed, and that it is not against stopping the killing of civilians, among whom, unfortunately, there are the most children.

- I hope that our officials will continue to vote according to their conscience and in the interest of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future. Croatia should be ashamed of its "moral stumble" which is evident, because how else to call those who are against stopping killings, expulsions, and other war crimes.

"European values" are something that Croatian policy always boasts about, and often lectures Bosniaks on how they should behave, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the direction its policy should take - states Lisica, quoting the famous Italian writer and author of the popular work "The Divine Comedy":

"The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of crisis".

No Danger for Jews in Sarajevo

In the context of Serbia, Lisica claims that neutrality is even more questionable due to the fact that a large number of Palestinian Christians were killed in the Israeli attack, and that a significant number of Orthodox religious buildings, centuries old, were also destroyed in the continuous bombing.

- It seems that the Serbian authorities are not interested in the suffering of Orthodox Christians in the Middle East - observes Lisica.

He also touched upon the cancellation of the commemoration of the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht in Sarajevo, and responded to claims by some that Jews in Sarajevo cannot feel safe and that the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is anti-Semitic.

- From the end of the sixteenth century until 1941, when supporters of the Independent State of Croatia tried to exterminate Jews, they lived freely and in peace in Sarajevo and the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosniaks have always protected their Jewish neighbors, and in the most difficult times, they wrote resolutions against their persecution, when it was very dangerous.

Bosniaks of Sarajevo and the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina risked their lives on several occasions to save Jews from persecution during World War II, and during the Ottoman period, Muslims in Sarajevo provided refuge to Jews persecuted from Spain and other areas.

The Haggadah was preserved in this city, when it was difficult to preserve life! There is no security danger for the Jews of Sarajevo; this is an unfounded thesis, needed by those who do not wish well to Bosniaks, nor to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Republic of Croatia, a country where one can still hear certain circles promoting the checkerboard with the first white field, shouting Ustasha slogans, and nurturing the legacy of the fascist puppet creation of the Independent State of Croatia, is not a relevant factor in disciplining anyone, especially not anti-fascist Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina - emphasizes Lisica.

On the Situation in the Region

He also commented on the situation in the region, stating that it is evident that after the new negotiations in Brussels, and those from ten days ago in Belgrade and Pristina, there is no progress in the relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

- The international community is pressuring the actors, but has not yet resorted to concrete decisions.

It is clear that there will be no lasting peace until Serbia recognizes Kosovo's independence, and until Kosovo realizes the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

Of course, that is still far off, and I do not expect it to be realized soon - concluded Lisica in an interview with Patria.
