(Patria) - Road and traffic point blockades currently carried out by dissatisfied transporters across Bosnia and Herzegovina are a direct consequence of the incompetence and irresponsibility of the current government.
They also show an ignorant attitude towards the real problems of the country, believes the Vice President of the FBiH, Refik Lendo.
- While the economy is suffocating, exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina are suffering huge losses. Citizens suffer daily, and ministers who are obliged to solve these problems remain silent, bicker, and shift responsibility, showing a complete unwillingness to act in the interest of the state and the people.
According to official data from the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH, over 11 billion KM were collected in 2024, of which 73% in the Federation of BiH, 25% in RS, and 2% in Brčko District.
It is clear that the Federation of BiH is the driver of economic activity and that RS and Brčko District are directly dependent on the economic strength of the FBiH - says Lendo.
He notes that the fact that the blockades are most pronounced in the Tuzla, Central Bosnia, Zenica-Doboj, and Sarajevo Cantons - which form the backbone of the country's exports and economic development - is particularly worrying.
This, Lendo adds, causes enormous damage precisely to the strongest economic part of BiH, while blockades in the RS entity, and eastern and western Herzegovina are almost negligible.
- Blockades do not affect the incompetent government that passively observes all this, but rather workers, producers, exporters, traders, and every ordinary citizen.
The government must understand that their failures are the reason why people are on the streets. Instead of solving problems, they insult the intelligence of the people and blame the opposition. This situation must not and cannot continue.
The state exists for the citizens and the economy, not for the positions and privileges of individuals. The government must take responsibility and urgently find solutions that will stop the damage suffered by transporters and citizens.
Therefore, I call on transporters to, instead of blockades that affect citizens, protest in front of the institutions that are obliged to solve the accumulated problems.
Block those who have brought us to this state - the institutions, ministries, and ministers who are clearly not up to the task they perform.
This is no longer just a matter of transporters - this is a matter of the functioning of the state. If the ministers cannot handle the responsibility, they should resign - Lendo stated.
