Lendo on Žuč Hill: The fight is not over, it has changed form!

(Patria) - This building looks beautiful from below. It is important that young people are here today. These are the wings of our future and it is important that our youth and children come, and we veterans do everything to remember our heroes but also for our future. So that they continue to build and preserve Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Refik Lendo, Vice President of the Federation of BiH, at the beginning of his address at the commemoration on Žuč Hill.

As he pointed out, this place preserved Sarajevo and BiH.

Here, 33 years ago, the honor of the state, one people and an idea was defended. There was no dilemma. It was a question of freedom or disappearance. Freedom was chosen. This is not just a memory of the battle, but also an expression of deep respect for all the brave fighters who put themselves in the service of defending the homeland. It was an act of love for the country, the people and freedom. You were not soldiers out of duty, but out of conscience. You defended your home, family, people and truth. Your fight was not only against the aggressor, but also against imposition, injustice and denial - said Lendo.

He adds that these battles are fought by other means. The cannon no longer fires, but words fire, lies and denial of genocide fire. The threat of secession and peaceful separation fires.

Before the eyes of the entire world, the rhetoric of the 1990s is being repeated, only this time more disguised and perfidious. The fight is not over, it has only changed form and today it seeks allies among the young. Children must know what happened here. BiH was defended, not given as a gift. We must pass on the truth to the young. Not teach them hatred but pride. The monument "Wings of Freedom" stands not only as a symbol of the past, but also as a pledge for the future, that freedom was not given but won and that it must be preserved - Lendo said, among other things.
