Lendo: BiH is losing hundreds of millions of euros and its European future due to irresponsible government

"The messages coming from the European Union are not political in nature, but represent a precise and well-intentioned warning that Bosnia and Herzegovina is missing a historic opportunity.

The fact that our country is already lagging behind the region, that it has not adopted key laws nor appointed a chief negotiator, speaks of the complete dysfunctionality of the current government at the state level.

The coalition consisting of political entities known as the 'Trojka', together with HDZ and SNSD, has shown a serious inability to respond to the basic obligations arising from the European path," Lendo stated in a Facebook post.

He emphasizes that, instead of reforms, we are witnessing blockades, a lack of dialogue, and a complete absence of political responsibility.

"Due to such an approach, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have already lost 108 million euros in grants from European funds, and now there is a completely real threat of losing an additional approximately 380 million euros.

These are not abstract numbers – these are funds for infrastructure, development, new jobs, and a better standard of living for our citizens.

It must be clearly stated here: the responsibility for this situation primarily lies with the current government at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is unable to implement the Reform Agenda or the Growth Plan.

However, some responsibility also lies with international actors who, through their interventions, enabled the formation of such a government, without clear mechanisms of accountability and results," says Lendo.

He points out that Bosnia and Herzegovina must not be a hostage of political irresponsibility and short-term interests.

"The European path is not a declarative commitment – it is a process that requires concrete decisions, courage, and the ability to reach compromises in the interest of the state and all its citizens.

I call on all responsible actors to urgently take responsibility, unblock processes, and fulfill obligations towards the European Union.

Any further delay directly harms citizens and further distances Bosnia and Herzegovina from its strategic goal – full membership in the European Union," concluded Lendo.
