Lejletur-regaib in Sarajevo: Changes begin from the heart and soul

(Patria) - The central program of the Medžlis of the Islamic Community (MIZ) Sarajevo on the occasion of the blessed night of Lejletur-regaib was held tonight in the Baščaršija Mosque.

Lejletur-regaib is celebrated on the eve of the first Friday in Rajab, the month that is the first
great herald of the blessed month of Ramadan.

„This is the night in which the prayer of Ibrahim, a.s., was accepted, in fact, also of all earlier
prophets of God who prayed to Allah to send the last prophet, Muhammad, a.s. This is the night of the decision of Almighty Allah to send the last prophet. Therefore, this is a night of prayers, a night of wishes, a night when believers direct prayers to Allah to bestow every good, blessing, and peace. This night is also the beginning of intensive preparation for the blessed Ramadan, and a person can accept Ramadan, Ramadan nights, and these blessed nights as much as there is space in their heart“, said the chief imam of Sarajevo, Dr. Abdulgafar-ef. Velić.

The program was performed by imams and the Choir of MIZ Sarajevo, and the lecturer was Dr. Ferid-ef.
Dautović.

„We have entered a sacred time in which Muslims should show their seriousness,
responsibility - towards every task, job, trust, towards their faith which they preserve. Sacred time requires cleansing of the heart and soul, in order to achieve closeness with the Dear God and awareness of the Dear God“, said Dautović.

He added that sacred time should „open our eyes, clear our vision, so we can see
what is happening within ourselves, around us, what a Muslim can do to make the situation better“.

„We should always start from ourselves, because changes always begin from the
person themselves and their heart and soul. Allah says - Do not create disorder, violence against yourselves.
Reflecting on that part of the verse, I interpreted it in the way - do not live in darkness, in your delusion, because a person in delusions, in their violence and sin, does not see things as Allah created them, therefore it is important to free ourselves from those delusions, violence, and sin that is within us“, he stated.

With the Prophet’s prayer - Allahumma barik lana fi Rajaba, wa Sha’bana, wa
ballighna Ramadan - O Allah, make us blessed in Rajab and Sha’ban and enroll us among those who will witness Ramadan - let us open our hearts wide to this chosen and
blessed month, Dautović urged.

„Some commentators say that Rajab is the month of sowing, Sha’ban is the month of watering,
and Ramadan is the month of our harvest. Every person aware of the responsibility of welcoming Ramadan
strives to behave responsibly to prepare for that special encounter“, Dautović said, among other things.

Lejletur-regaib according to Islamic teaching represents a confirmation of Allah’s mercy
towards man. Lejletur-regaib is also a night of prayers, wishes, and hope. In the Islamic calendar, the nights of Lejletur-regaib, Lejletul-miradž, Lejletul-berat, and Lejletul-kadr are more
distinguished compared to other nights of the year, and are celebrated with increased acts of worship, voluntary prayers, and recitation of the Qur’an.
