Lejla Njemčević takes 4th place at the World Championship in Scotland

(Patria) - The best BiH cyclist and currently the world's number one cyclist on the UCI marathon world ranking list, Lejla Njemčević, took fourth place at the World Championship held in Scotland. The victory on an extremely demanding course was taken by Austrian representative Mona Mitterwallner. After a close battle with French competitor Estelle Morel in a sprint, Njemčević took fourth place after 5 hours and 20 minutes of racing.

Our competitor had a bad start to the race, so after 50 kilometers she was in 11th place, but with a decisive ride in the second part of the race, she increased her pace and made great progress, finishing fourth and thus achieving the best result in the history of BiH in World Championship races.

"Although this was my toughest race of my career, I am extremely happy with fourth place at the World Championship in Scotland and with earning 180 new UCI points. I didn't feel well at the start and in the middle of the race I was in a group, holding a position around 11th place, but 40 kilometers before the finish I broke away from the group and rode at my absolute maximum. Although I spent a lot of energy to catch up with the leading competitors, I managed to take fourth place in the sprint at the finish line," said Lejla Njemčević.

After earning points from the World Championship, the best BiH cyclist retained her first position on the World Marathon ranking list, given that she is the most consistent competitor this season. The next competition for Lejla Njemčević is the World Cup in France, where our competitor has the opportunity to defend her position as the leader of the World Series.
