(Patria) - The best BiH cyclist Lejla Njemčević achieved a historic feat by winning the World Series in the marathon discipline, which consists of four World Cup races, and etched her name in the history of world cycling.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) decided for the first time to place all World Cup races in different mountain bike disciplines under one organization in a new format called UCI MTB World Series.
The organization was entrusted to WBD Sports, which created a unique trophy for the overall World Cup winners.
Lejla Njemčević lifted the overall winner's trophy after securing fourth place in the last race in Snowshoe, United States, which was enough to win the World Series with a lead of a high 280 points over the second-placed competitor.
Our competitor won the first World Cup race with a convincing performance in the Czech Republic, and then secured two second places in the races in Italy and France.
The name of the best BiH cyclist, Lejla Njemčević, will be engraved on a trophy that will bear the names of all overall World Cup winners in their disciplines.
The trophy, which will be kept in a sports museum in Scotland, is made of Scottish beech wood, and the metal globe made of pyrite crystal is a symbol of the original glass trophy from the 1990s.
The same trophy will be used as the overall World Cup winner's trophy in the coming seasons, but the names of the first World Cup winners in the new era of cycling will be forever inscribed.
