(Patria) - White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced yesterday that an additional 20 countries have "applied to join US President Donald Trump's Peace Committee".
Leavitt did not list the countries that applied, American media reported.
Although the Peace Committee was mandated by the UN Security Council only to oversee the governance of Gaza for the next two years, the Trump administration aims to use this body to resolve other conflicts around the world.
Speaking at a press conference at the White House, Leavitt also said that the return of the last remaining Israeli hostage from Gaza was a "huge foreign policy feat" for Trump, Israel, and the entire world.
The Israeli army returned the remains of the last remaining Israeli hostage held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, fulfilling a key condition for the start of the second phase of the US president's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
The remains of hostage Rana Gvili were identified and returned for burial, the Israeli army announced, Reuters reported.
