Lazović criticizes the "Trojka" for electing city leaders without a single Croat: You are degrading Sarajevo's multi-ethnicity

(Patria) - Miro Lazović (Democratic Front) reacted sharply to the election of the new leadership of the City of Sarajevo, accusing the ruling "Trojka" of undermining the multi-ethnic character of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"After the election of the top officials of the City of Sarajevo, one can rightly ask: what is the "Trojka's" real policy, what is their political goal, and what is their vision," Lazović stated.

He recalled that in the previous term there were no representatives of the Serb people in the position of deputy mayor, and that in the current convocation there is not a single representative of the Croat people at any level of the City leadership - the City Council, the mayor, and two deputies.

"This never happened before the "Trojka"," Lazović emphasized, adding that the Statute of the City of Sarajevo is clear on this issue.

He warns that by violating the Statute and excluding representatives of the constituent peoples from the leadership, the "Trojka" has demonstrated a "narrow-minded policy motivated solely by the distribution of positions" instead of presenting Sarajevo as a positive example of multi-ethnicity.

"Are they even aware that in the current politically unstable times, when the future of BiH is being decided, the degradation of the multi-ethnicity of the capital's leadership plays into the hands of opponents of building BiH as a multi-ethnic and secular state," Lazović stated.

He added that the criticisms of political parties with a Croatian affiliation in this case are justified, and that if the election of representatives of the civic option is to be enabled, then this must be clearly regulated by statutory amendments.

"I agree that representatives of citizens who declare themselves differently should have the right to be elected, but then amendments to the Statute must be adopted to enable this," Lazović concluded.

Out of 28 councilors, the "Trojka" bloc has 16 councilors. SDP has a maximum of seven, of which four are Croats, Naša stranka has five, of which two are Croats, and Narod i pravda has four, all of whom are Bosniaks.

Samir Avdić (NiP, Bosniak) was elected Mayor of Sarajevo, and the deputies are Mirela Džehverović (NS, Others) and Predrag Puharić (SDP, Serb).

The leadership of the City Council consists of the chairman Alen Girt (NS, Others), and the deputy chairmen are Emir Bićo (NiP, Bosniak) and Svjetlana Šošić (SDP, Serb).
