Lavić: Nothing of the Greater Serbian project has been diminished, only the players have changed

(Patria) - The Greater Serbian project is still alive, not stopped, believes Senadin Lavić, professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo.

Guesting last night on the show Plenum of Federal Television, Lavić particularly emphasized that peoples as a whole are not criminal, but also reminded that individuals committed crimes within certain ideologies.

Regardless of the fact that a considerable number of them are serving prison sentences, he considers the fact that the Greater Serbian project has not been indicted and convicted to be the biggest failure of the judicial system.

Nothing of the Greater Serbian project has been diminished, claims Professor Lavić, and states that only the players have changed, with the same ideological, political and expansionist ideas.

- That is why we must scientifically, diplomatically, through prosecution, internationally and humanistically direct ourselves against the Greater Serbian project, which has been creating agony for peoples for a long time.

We need to ask ourselves how it is possible that this project still lives, that it functions, that it works, what have we been doing for the last 28 years, why did we sign Dayton, why did we renounce the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, why did the international community suddenly withdraw?

Why is the High Representative not doing anything, why do they think we will give up Bosnia, why are they looking among us for people who know nothing, who are of questionable moral characteristics, who are ready to take chairs without knowing the consequences of what they have taken - says Lavić.

He reminds that genocide has been adjudicated through multiple verdicts of international courts, and adds that this is a fact from which deniers of crimes cannot escape.

According to his words, what our society needs is a normal life, without the need to expect others to admit facts because their denial is their shame.

- Why must I be ready in the morning to put on a military uniform to defend Bosnia again? Why must we constantly be in that file, having to be ready to defend Bosnia, that there must again be 200,000 of us to oppose Milošević's or Tuđman's successors?

What does our existence in the 21st century even mean, and why must we constantly prove every year that someone committed genocide against us? How did we manage to reach the point where we have to prove genocide that has been adjudicated at the international court in The Hague?

Because we fell into a logical error that the denial of genocide is imposed on us as a task; we have nothing to prove that genocide occurred, we have nothing to wait for from Serbia and from Serbs for them to accept genocide; genocide has been adjudicated.

I would say to Bosniaks like this: Bosniaks, sober up, wake up, become aware, do not let Serbs be your witnesses as to whether genocide occurred or not, what does Serbia and Serbs have to do with whether they will recognize it or not?

The International Court in The Hague has delivered a verdict that the crime committed in Srebrenica is genocide. Period, for ever and ever. Amen! There is no more proving - concluded Professor Lavić.
