SARAJevo, (Patria) - BiH's best athlete Larisa Cerić won the title of European vice-champion after winning a silver medal at the Second European Games in Minsk. Cerić returns to Sarajevo tonight.
In the match for the gold medal, the BiH heroine lost to Belarusian Irina Skuckaja, a former European champion, thus bringing Bosnia and Herzegovina its first medal at the European Games. It should be noted that the judo tournament at these Games also counts as the European Championship (two medals are awarded), and thus Cerić became the vice-champion of the Old Continent. The BiH heroine reached the final after confident victories over Milica Žabić (Serbia), Galina Tarasova (Ukraine), and in the semi-finals over Portuguese Rošel Nunjes.
This is the third silver medal for Larisa Cerić at the European Championship. According to her team, Cerić only lacks an Olympic medal. She will try for a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
