Lamija Alihodžić wins bronze at World Taekwondo Cadet Championships

(Patria) - Lamija Alihodžić won a bronze medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the last day of the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Sarajevo.

The representative of our country, in the women's category over 176cm, won the first medal in Olympic taekwondo sport, thus writing history in the cadet category at this level of competition.

The representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina had a bye in the first round due to the draw, and in the quarterfinals, she won her match against the representative of Italy with a score of 2:0.

In the semi-final match, she was stopped by the representative of Iran, who later became the world champion.

Otherwise, the four-day competition, which featured over 600 competitors from 73 countries, successfully concluded today in the arena of the Hills hotel.

Over 1000 guests stayed in Sarajevo, and all attendees had words of praise for the organization and quality of the competition.

In the men's categories up to 176cm, gold was won by Gabriele Rosato (Italy), silver went to Efthymios Iliadis (Greece), and bronze medalists were Kazbulat Kazanchev (AIN) and Nattawat Bunchang (Thailand).

In the women's categories up to 176cm, Vanja Rankov (Serbia) took gold, Ayla Jalili (Iran) took second place, and third places were taken by Pola Wasilewska (USA) and Klara Uglješić (Croatia).

In the women's category over 176cm, besides the aforementioned Alihodžić, bronze was won by Nielle Vroegh (Netherlands), silver went to Akon Baak (Australia), and gold to Hana Zarrinkamar (Iran).

The men's category up to 180cm was won by Akhadjon Mukhtorov (Uzbekistan) who took gold, Nolhan Rosemond (France) took silver, while bronze medals were won by Leonardo Angell (Australia) and Joshua Alade (USA).

In the heaviest weight categories for men, over 180cm, gold went to Mohammad Hossein Taghipoor (Iran), Nikita Gubanov (AIN) took silver, Ivan Lysenko (Spain) took bronze, as did Ramazan Rasulov (AIN).

In the overall men's standings, the team from Kazakhstan took first place, Uzbekistan took second place, Italy was third, South Korea was fourth, and Iran took fifth place.

In the women's competition, the team from Iran was the most dominant, South Korea took second place, the team from Kazakhstan was third, the team from Croatia was fourth, and Italy took fifth place.

Following the successful conclusion of the largest competition organized by the Taekwondo Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina to date, another international tournament, the G1 Bosnia and Herzegovina Open, will be held in the next three days, with the participation of nearly 500 competitors expected.
