Lakić expects fuel supply in FBiH to stabilize by Wednesday

(Patria) - Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić issued a statement this evening regarding the situation on the oil market of the Federation of BiH.

Lakić points out that the Ministry he heads is in constant contact with all participants in the oil and petroleum products market.

- According to currently available information, the temporary difficulties in fuel supply in the Federation of BiH are largely a consequence of a sharply increased demand in the past few days.

Increased purchases by the economy and citizens, motivated by fear of a possible shortage of this energy source in the coming period, have led to a significant depletion of stocks held by distributors - emphasizes Lakić.

He states that it is currently evident that so-called tertiary storage, i.e., stocks held by citizens and the economy, have significantly increased, while primary and secondary storage held by importers and distributors have temporarily decreased compared to usual levels.

- All participants in the oil and petroleum products market are making maximum efforts to overcome this situation as soon as possible. According to the information available to the Ministry, a stabilization of supply is expected during Wednesday, March 11 - notes Lakić.

He also says that today it was agreed with the Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić to hold a meeting on Wednesday, which will be attended by all relevant actors in this chain. The topic will be the supply of oil and petroleum products to FBiH.

At the meeting, Lakić adds, the current market situation will be reviewed, as well as proposed directions for further action.

- Taking into account the current developments on the global energy market, as well as the decisions made by some neighboring countries, the Ministry will propose additional measures to the Government of FBiH with the aim of long-term ensuring a stable and secure supply of oil and petroleum products - concluded Minister Lakić.
