(Patria) - The head of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH, Halil Lagumdžija, believes that BiH's judiciary faces a significant task if the EU opens negotiations with our country.
He warns that the current BiH judiciary does not meet the requirements of the European Union.
- The opening of negotiations between BiH and the EU will bring seriousness to all branches of government, all bodies whose decisions and actions are important for closing negotiations in individual segments, including the judiciary - said Lagumdžija.
He emphasizes that the current trend is positive, but that the adoption of the law on the HJPC, which will put many things in order, follows.
- I expect that the judiciary will not be an obstacle to concluding that chapter in the foreseeable future, but it will take time to align many things with EU standards, which is a condition for giving a positive opinion on all chapters - added Lagumdžija.
