(Patria) - The Ministry of Security informed the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina that, with the assistance of experts from this ministry, the biometric system should be urgently repaired, thereby resolving the issue of issuing visas for foreigners.
The next session is expected to consider the Information of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the operation of the software for processing biometric data (photographs, fingerprints, signature) of foreign nationals upon entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The biometric system represents a key segment in the process of identification and security checks of foreigners, and delays in its operation can affect the efficiency of visa issuance and the implementation of legal procedures at border crossings and diplomatic-consular missions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The problem with the biometric identification system for foreigners calls into question a number of official visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as tourist visits.
The official acceptance of the system was signed in 2024, but the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina made the decision much later, after the warranty had expired.
