SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Deputy leader of the Self-Determination Movement, Arberija Nagavci, stated that the leader of the movement and outgoing Prime Minister Albin Kurti will not respond to the invitation of the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, for consultations on forming a new government.
Nagavci told the Pristina-based Gazeta Express that now is not the time for meetings, but for respecting government decisions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"Now is not the time for meetings, it is time to focus maximally on respecting the decisions of the government and health experts. This means that the president has an obligation to abide by the Constitution to dissolve the assembly in such cases and call elections," Nagavci said.
He added that the Self-Determination Movement today submitted a request for an assessment of the constitutionality of Thaçi's call to citizens not to respect government measures for protection against coronavirus.
"We have just submitted to the Constitutional Court a request for an assessment of the constitutionality of the actions of the President of Kosovo, when he called for civil disobedience, namely non-implementation of the government's decision regarding urgent measures aimed at managing the situation with coronavirus," Nagavci stated, adding that this is not the first time Thaçi has violated the Constitution.
