BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA CUP: ŠABANADŽOVIĆ HERO FOR ŽELJEZNIČAR AT PECARA

ŠIROKI BRIJEG, (Patria) - In the first match of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup quarter-finals between Široki Brijeg and Željezničar, the guests celebrated with a score of 0:1.

The match saw a cautious game from both sides, but also a degree of nervousness. The game mostly took place in the midfield with a few half-chances on both sides, but the goalkeepers were secure in the final moments.

In the seventh minute, there were also some heated exchanges between the players, but everything quickly calmed down.

Among the chances in the first half, we highlight a chance for Željezničar in the 26th minute after an excellent run by Zec, but the home defense cleared the danger. At the end of the half, there were two good chances for the home team after set pieces, but Željezničar's net remained untouched. In the 44th minute, a new chance for Široki Brijeg after a cross from Menalo, but there was no change in the score.

The guests had the last chance of the first half, but Ramović's shot was blocked by the Široki Brijeg defense, and the teams went into halftime with a 0:0 score.

The second half began with another attempt by Ramović, which was again blocked by the home defense. In the 52nd minute, Wagner attempted a shot, but the ball went out for a corner. It was the 68th minute when the home team had a chance through Menalo, but the nets remained untouched.

Three minutes later, there was another scramble in the penalty area of the Sarajevo team, but without a concrete finish, and a minute later the home goalkeeper saved Zec's shot from a great position.

It was the 86th minute when Željezničar took the lead with a very valuable goal, which turned out to be the winning one, scored by young Anel Šabanadžović, thus securing a significant advantage for Željo ahead of the second leg at Grbavica.

Unfortunately, the match was also marked by the home fans chanting "Herceg-Bosna", displaying pictures of six war criminals sentenced to 111 years in prison by the Hague tribunal, and displaying a banner related to Slobodan Praljak.
