KUIP issued fines of 38,000 KM to gas stations for fuel and petroleum product prices

(Patria) - The Market and Tourism Inspectorate of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs of Sarajevo Canton is conducting intensified inspections of gas stations with the aim of directly controlling fuel and petroleum product prices, as well as verifying compliance with margin limits on petroleum derivatives, ultimately in the interest of consumer protection. Activities in the area of Sarajevo Canton have been intensified given the current trends in fuel and petroleum product prices on the global market.

In the past seven days, 27 inspections were carried out, during which violations of regulations were found at nine business entities. Due to the identified irregularities, 18 misdemeanor warrants were issued totaling 38,000 KM. Inspections are conducted in accordance with the Law on Price Control of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the provisions of the Law on Internal Trade of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Law on Consumer Protection, which provide the legal basis for imposing measures and sanctions.

In accordance with the decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on measures for direct control of petroleum product prices, the maximum margin on the sale of these products is 0.06 KM per liter in wholesale, while in retail it is limited to 0.25 KM per liter. We also remind that gas stations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are obliged to submit notifications of price and margin changes to the Federal Ministry of Trade using OPC and OPM forms, in accordance with the Instruction on the method, content, and deadlines for submission. Fuel prices may be changed no more than once in a 24-hour period, with new prices taking effect the following day from 00:01 hours.

The Market and Tourism Inspectorate will continue to conduct intensified inspections in this area in the coming period to ensure compliance with regulations, market stability, and consumer protection. At the same time, intensified inspections will also be carried out in retail stores and shopping centers with a special focus on the consistent application of maximum price levels for 63 products covered by the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on extending the measure of direct price control from February 28, 2026.
