(Patria) - The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration has issued a warning due to possible floods caused by forecast heavy rainfall expected in the evening hours and during the following day.
"The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued an orange warning for the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Heavier downpours accompanied by thunder are expected, with rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 litres per square metre in a short period, and locally up to 60 litres. These precipitations can cause flash floods, property flooding, traffic disruptions, interruptions in electricity and water supply, and difficult driving conditions," state from CUCZ.
In order to protect life, health and property, they call on all legal and natural persons to immediately, in accordance with their obligations and competences, take the necessary preventive measures against flash floods.
"Readiness and preparation of adequate resources are key for a quick and efficient response of all subjects of the protection and rescue system, which can prevent major material damage, as well as possible injuries and human casualties.
We especially appeal to the municipal civil protection services in the Sarajevo Canton area to continuously patrol the most vulnerable areas, to put their forces on standby as first response forces, and to react promptly in accordance with protection and rescue plans," they state.
All legal and natural persons are obliged to report any danger or occurrence that may lead to a natural or other disaster immediately to the Cantonal Operational Centre for Civil Protection at telephone number 121, which is available 24 hours a day.
