Monster Kunarac pleaded not guilty

(Patria) - Dragoljub Kunarac pleaded not guilty to the indictment charging him with crimes committed in the Foča area in 1992.

Kunarac said he received and understood the indictment, and pleaded not guilty.

“The case file will be sent to the Council to schedule the main hearing,” said pre-trial judge Enida Hadžiomerović.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment in 2018, charging Kunarac, in his capacity as commander of the special unit of the Army of Republika Srpska called “Žaga”, with participating in the persecution of civilians of Bosniak nationality.

He is charged under three counts of the indictment with participating in the murder of six people, torture and inflicting severe physical and psychological suffering on captured civilians, and deportation and burning of property.

He was transferred to BiH last month from Germany, where he was serving a 28-year prison sentence, to which he was also sentenced by the Hague Tribunal for crimes in Foča.
